Udoh nets 21 goals to surpass record Enyimba striker, Mfon Udoh, has become the first man to score 21 goals in a single season in the Nigerian top flight. Coincidentally, Udoh chose the same day that Jude Aneke became the first player to score 20 goals in a single season in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to score 21 goals. Aneke had netted thrice for Kaduna United in their 3-1 win over Niger Tornadoes on November 2, 2011 and Udoh produced a deja vu feel when he netted his 21st goal of the season on same date, November 2. Before Sundays matches in the Nigeria top flight, Udoh and Dolphins attacking winger,had 20 goals apiece on the board and it was down to the two men who becomes the first to score 21 goals as they came face-to-face. However, it was Udoh who netted his 21st of the season in the 1-1 draw at Dolphins. The former Akwa United forward told supersport of his mixed feelings despite setting a new individual goal-scoring record in the NPFL. I am happy with the individual record, which is good for my CV as a footballer. But I would have loved it to come with the chance of winning the league title. But I have to accept it as it is and same goes for my teammates, who are also disappointed. But I must also say a big thank you to my teammates and coaches. They have been fantastic, and they are the ones behind my scoring 21 goals this season. On setting a new NPFL record on November 2 like Anekes 20-goal feat three years ago, Udoh simply said: WOw! What a coincidence. That sounds good as I never knew this before. Udoh has scored 23 goals in league and Cup competitions for Enyimba this season. The former Unicem Rovers man has a total of 36 goals in the two seasons he has featured in the NPFL.
