Uduaghan tasks women against limitations in politics By Scannews DELTA State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, has called on women to stop and find a way out of the manoeuvring, blackmail and limitation from men in order to get beyond the 35 per cent political affirmation accorded them. Uduaghan stated this in Asaba on Wednesday at the maiden edition of The Sun Women Leadership Summit, saying despite their innocence, men still use fellow women to block and manipulate other women, advising that until women come together, they would not be able to achieve their desire and win their men counterpart. The governor stated that a lot of women from Delta State were recording great successes in different fields of life, observing that the former Managing Director of Bank of Industry, Evelyn Oputu, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Ngozi Okonko-Iweala, Blessing Okagbare, among others, are making Nigeria proud in their chosen fields. ‘’I believe if we have more women in government and corporate world, Nigeria will be better off. I am not running men down but stressing the need to encourage the women. Delta is proud to have the likes of Okonjo-Iweala, Blessing Okagbare and others in politics, administration, sports and other walks of life,’’ Uduaghan said. Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Mulikat Akande-Adeola, who was the chairman of the occasion, expressed hope that the summit would provide women the opportunity to be involved in the decision making process of the country. Meanwhile, a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Farida Waziri, has commended Uduaghan for running a transparent administration, giving his administration a pat on the back for following due process in its financial transactions. The former EFCC boss said: “The governor never crossed my part and I never crossed his while I was in EFCC; that is why I have the confidence to come into Delta State. He is a performing governor, following due process and he has done very well for his people. “When I was coming, I thought I will have to land in Benin, but was told there was an airport here, the Asaba International Airport that I saw is one of the best in the country, your governor has performed well in infrastructural development.”
