Uganda Communications Commission has banned all new SMS marketing promotions by licensed operators and telecom companies. UCC ED Godfrey Mutabazi said the telecom companies should not send any more of these messages until they fully comply with a certain set of guidelines set by the regulatory body. This is because mobile phone users complain about countless messages sent to their handsets on a daily basis announcing different companies various products and promotions.
