Uganda losses approximately 575 billion Shillings annualy due to Banana Bacteria Wilt and Casava Brown Streak Disease. If the two diseases continue to ravage the country, we are likely to loose over 60% of our food basket in less than two years. Fortunately our scientist have worked hard to counter these and more crop diseases. Thanks to them, we now have: 1) Sigatoka resistant banana 2) Banana which is resistant to Banana Bacteria Wilt 3) Nematode resistant banana 4) Herbicide resistant Cotton 5) Bollworm resistant Cotton 6) Vitamin A and Iron enriched banana We await for the final approval for these products to be availed to our farmers.
