Uganda, my pen sang for you too. Jamhuri ya Uganda The Land - TopicsExpress

Uganda, my pen sang for you too. Jamhuri ya Uganda The Land of pulchritude, The Pearl of Africas crown, Within the Nile Basin, you lie ... All day, the winds Straddling on my crows nest Have been reciting: Kwa ajili ya Mungu Nchi yangu... Which I have seen the banished Ancestors of Luo and Bantu Sing in the dancing arena of the maidens of Ankole. I have read A State Of Blood Long tales of your exiled Son Clothed in the apparel of Inhumanity, Who frozen numberless breaths at dawn, Whose Cold Homecoming was frowned by Museveni; But Jeddah, his refuges soil swallowed him. Ive smelt the odorous aroma of your Childrens blood massacred by the rebellious L-R-A; Ive seen all their atrocious scars in the memories of your sky and other neighbouring Skies. Uganda, May the winds Of time dry your tears And may your children kiss That they may reap the sweet harvests of love... But Ive not come To stab these black rain-clouds in your eyes, Nor to recapture the flashback of your Red Days Nor to reopen wounds which time is gradually healing. Ive come to explore The charms of your horizons... Now, Id love to perch on the flank of Mount Kadam To see the droughts footprints on the navel of Somalia, To measure the width of the Sudanese Plain, To see the herdsmen moving their cattle Southwards to the banks of Turkwel River... To squat on the bough of the Cork Oak Near the tributaries bifurcating into your mouth And watch the sun dissolves underneath The marshy region of your twilight eyes. To ride on the wings of your windy night Sweetened by the smokes of the oil lamps Oozing from the huts of your remote hamlets. When I reach Entebbe, the northern shore of Lake Victoria Ill lie on the sandy bed that the waves built and catnap. Uganda All day, the winds Straddling on my crows nest have been reciting: Kwa ajili ya Mungu Nchi yangu... That even these cashews Growing within the shore of Tortys smile have been rattling: Uganda! Uganda! Uganda! The pearl of Africas crown... Madu Chisom Kingdavid
