Ughhhh, why just why people?! If gluten can cause the body to destroy the small intestine....Ummmm it absolutely could cause it to attack other parts of the body. It would be weird to think anything else really. Doesnt mean some arent hyping it, but it definetly does NOT mean we assume everyone is faking or imagining their problems. My medical doctors were at a complete loss as to what was happening to me, why I couldnt walk or function at all. Then as a last ditch effort they took me off of gluten and dairy. I had no reason to imagine it would work. Nothing had. As a matter of fact I said, No way that food is causing this kind of reaction! They said to try it. It was a slow road to healing and gluten was not the begining and the end to all my problems, but no doubt it was a major contributing factor. Even today I cant eat at a restaurant without reacting due to cross contamination. And Im not talking about an upset stomach, but wide spread, debilitating muscle spasms. The day will come when science and medicine will catch up, like it did for Celiacs. (And there are those who still doubt that diagnosis) There was a day one know one could have imagined that peanuts could have caused the body to react as it does either.
