Uh-oh.....Breakfast went South. I happen to currently be the only woman on my sales team.....since I coming close to the end of my tenure as a full time employee some us meet for breakfast or lunch. Weve always done this but now Im sharing information the will need when I leave. As usual we have the normal conversations about marriage....today being no different the men ranted and raved about how wives today act brand new. Usually I laugh, shake my head and listen. Today was different. After they did their complaining I asked them these questions; 1. When was the last time you washed your wifes car? 2. When was the last time you bought new tires for your wifes car or took her car to get a tune up or oil change. 3. How often do you cook? 4. How often do you help your kids with their homework or spend nurturing time with them? 5. When was the last time you complimented your wife? 6. How often do you take your wife on a date? They all had a blank stare as if to say thats not my job. So I asked easier questions. 1. Who cooked last night? 2. Is it 50/50 in your household? Someone said what do you mean? I said do you guys split everything in half or are you responsible for major things and your wife does things like PGE bill, etc.? Now for the most part according to them they are the bread winners and I know for certain.....90% make over 6 figures.....some said my wife has her credit card bills, my kids tuition, her car note and PGE. Ok....others said she goes to work just like I do...we split it. Oooookay. I just chuckled.....they asked why I was laughing I said because some of you men act brand new. I never saw my mom or stepmom wash her car or do anything except drive her car when my dad was alive. My mom cooked, but on Fridays we had fish that dad bought, fast food on Saturday and Sunday family dinner. My mom was a single mother, my Uncle Levi stepped in as a brother and did those things that men do for their wives. You dont see to many of those men around these days. I will say, my father in law did set the standard for his sons..... So with that said I thought today would be a great day to let our husbands know how much me appreciate them especially those who have the old school values. My son in law who is yet to be 25 understands a lot of the values our fathers had!
