The real reason was the job of thousands of transcribers would be affected if the Quran would be published via mechanical means, without errors and fast, too. Electricity only entered Mecca well into 20th century because ulamak fatwa-ed electricity as the works of syaitan. In 1969, when we as a specie landed on the moon for the very first time, the ulamak fatwa-ed that whomever believe the moon landing story has become kufr. At every juncture, at every point in our so-called islamic history, the ulamak has never failed to lay destruction, deaths and sufferings to Muslims.
