Ukraines heroes defend freedom: For those of you that know and understand the realities of this world, you know that they defend not only their own Ukrainian people, but also the entire western civilized world: All of us. Here is how you can help them: HOW TO HELP UKRAINE! Update...Friday, December 5, 2014 Dear Friends of Ukraine! This week in Congress has been quite rambunctious with many issues Ukraine-centric. As an update, please note the following bills and resolutions which have had movement in the U.S. House of Representatives. * On Thursday, December 4, 2014, the FY 2015 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) passed the House of Representatives in a vote of 300-119. This is a significant event for Ukraine as the bill includes provisions for Ukraine. The House Armed Services Committee announcement states: The NDAA expresses the Sense of Congress that lethal and nonlethal assistance should be provided to Ukraine, and requires the Secretary of Defense to submit a report on such assistance that has been requested by and provided to Ukraine. The NDAA increases the budget for the DOD’s Warsaw Initiative Fund/Partnership for Peace (WIF/PfP) program from $24.4 million to $34.4 million to enable U.S. European Command, through military exercises and defense reform efforts, to build the capacity of PfP militaries in order to promote regional stability and to deter Russian aggression. The NDAA authorizes $1 billion for the European Reassurance Initiative, including $75 million for programs, activities, and assistance to support Ukraine. * Also on Thursday, December 4, 2014, the House of Representatives passed H.Res.758, a resolution strongly condemning the actions of the Russian Federation, under President Vladimir Putin, which has carried out a policy of aggression against neighboring countries aimed at political and economic domination. Several provisions of the symbolic resolution include the following: Calls on the President to provide the Government of Ukraine with lethal and non-lethal defense articles, services, and training required to effectively defend its territory and sovereignty; Calls on the President to provide the Government of Ukraine with appropriate intelligence and other relevant information in a timely manner to assist the Government of Ukraine to defend its territory and sovereignty * On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, Rep. Marcy Kaptur, co-chair of the Congressional Ukrainian Caucus, introduced in House of Representatives HR5782, the Ukraine Freedom Support Act, which is a companion bill to S2828. Currently the House bill has the following co-sponsors. Rep. Sander Levin (D-MI), co-chair of the Congressional Ukrainian Caucus Rep. Jim Gerlach (R-PA), co-chair of the Congressional Ukrainian Caucus Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ) Rep. James Moran (D-VA) Rep. William Keating (D-MA) Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY) Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-NJ) Rep. Gerald Connolly (D-VA) Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL) Rep. Michael Fitzpatrick (R-PA) Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD) Rep. Brian Higgins (D-NY) Rep. David Joyce (R-OH) Rep. James Renacci (R-OH) Rep. Steve Stivers (R-OH) Rep.
