Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych , now trying after last weeks failed attempt to sign a comprehensive agreement with the EU and the subsequent demonstrations in Kiev to reach out to the EU. EU Commission informs Monday in a press release that Yanukovych has called Commission President José Manuel Barroso to follow up on last week and this weekends events. Read also Protesters block government offices in Kiev Delegation to Brussels According to the commission Yanukovych among others used the phone call to announce that he will send a delegation to Brussels to talk about certain aspects of trade and Association Agreement . Barroso replied that the commission would accept and will discuss the implementation of agreements already concluded - but that one is not prepared to reopen the already concluded negotiations . A peaceful solution Barroso , for its part have used the interview to send a number of calls for all parties in Ukraine to show restraint and to seek a peaceful , political solution. Specifically, the administration s appeal to respect civil rights , cooperation with all political forces and to investigate police use of force. It is not yet clear who Yanukovych will send to Brussels , and when it should happen. It was intended that the agreement should have been finally signed on Friday in Lithuania during a summit between the EU and six former Soviet republics.
