Ukrainian law-enforcers seize 5m dollars, 50 kg of gold from ex-ministers flat About 5m dollars in cash and almost 50 kg of gold bullion bars have been seized from a flat owned by the wife of former Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Eduard Stavytskyy, 5 Kanal TV reported today. The safes with money and jewellery were seized during a search in the flat. In addition to the cash and gold bullion bars, there was jewellery and documents there. The exact value of the seized items has not been established yet. An accountant was in the flat when the search began. She tried to destroy the documents. The woman was detained and is currently being questioned. She tried to resist law enforcers and not to let them in. However, neither Stavytskyy nor his relatives were detained. Law-enforcers have not said anything about their whereabouts or the investigation against them. Oleh Mahnitskyy, acting prosecutor-general, was shown saying: A number of documents as well as two safes were found during the search. One of the safes was full of money. In particular, there was about five million dollars in it. Another safe was full of gold and jewellery. We found 50 kg of gold bullion bars and jewellery made of different metals - gold, platinum as well as diamonds. We are currently establishing the value of these items.
