Ultimate Standard The New Testament is the ultimate standard for the truth. To whome we gsave place subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. Galatians 2:5. Paul understood that the gospel may never be compromised for the sake of peace, unity, or current opinion. Both the glory of Jesus Christ and the salvation of the lost were at stake. Today if we relinquish any part of the gospel according to New Testament revelation, we begin to tear down the only message that saves us from eternal destruction. All Christian teaching must be tested by apostolic truth, does the teaching confirm to the original message of Christ and the apostles found in the New Testament. We must ask: Does the teaching contain less than the apostolic message? Or does it add something unbiblical to the truth while acknowledging the apostolic message? We must never test teaching solely by feeling, experiences, results, miracles, or by what other people are saying or have written books about. The New Testament is the ultimate standard for truth. And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ being the chief corner stone. Ephesians 2:20. We must not not only believe the apostolic message but also defend and guard it against all distortion or alteration. .....you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. Jude:3 If a church does not have and stand on sound doctrine it is not on a firm foundation. And yes, I know people belief all kinds of doctrines. But is it sound bible doctrine? Is it true. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lust shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears. II Timothy 4:3 As for me I will defend and contend for the faith until Jesus comes for me.
