Um... I just spent the last hour and 4 minutes next to a man who got on the train and took off his shoes and socks. He was humming Henry the 8th to himself and chewing periodically on his arm. Myself and 3 tourists from Haiti were mortified. He just got off... we all smiled and sighed relief. He walked off barefoot and was wearing a very expensive suit. I think we have a stock broker who went off the deep end living in Deer Park, NY. Be forewarned residents of Deer Park. The family from Haiti is here visiting family in Central Islip and just arrived via jfk. I told them all people on Long Island are not insane. Only about half the people who ride the train during rush hour are. Personally I blame the closure of insane asylums. I understand Pilgrim state was a horrible place... As was kings park... BUT they also kept people who take off their shoes and socks, sing I am Henry the 8th I am, and eventually end up eating another person or their own arm... off the train. Its a shame we couldnt find balance in the sanatorium system. Instead they all wander around now... and apparently ride the LIRR for shits and giggles. In Haiti people like that live in hospitals says the mom to me while still clutching her child in sheer horror. I simply said best I can guess is people thought it would be better to just let them ride the train. Weeeeeeeee trains are fun. Welcome to America, and thank you for riding the long island railroad. Please watch the gap when exiting the train, check for your personal belongings, and have a lovely visit. We apologize if anyone tried to eat you... its Friday.
