Umbrella Hoisting - A pagoda in Mandalay Region ******************************************************************* A ceremony to enshrine, hoist umbrella and offer gold foils to Maha Zeya Thukha Lawka Chantha Pagoda was held in Lone Taw village in Nahto Gyi Township of Mandalay region, Sunday in conjunction with consecration ceremony. President U Thein Sein attended the ceremony and offered offertories to Sayadaws and members of the sanghas. The President, the UEC Chairman and the Union Ministers hoisted the diamond bud, vane and tiers of the umbrella to the pagoda in line with the tradition. It was followed by the consecration ceremony. The president and party also offered meal to the Sayadaws and sanghas. Maha Zeya Thukha Lawka Chantha Pagoda is 81-ft high and it was constructed with the contribution of Union Minister for Transport and family and well-wishers.
