~Ummah Welfare Trust Iraq Appeal~ In December 2013, a military incursion by Iraqi government troops into the Western province of Anbar led to deaths of over 1,000 people and the injuries of thousands more. The fighting, which is now escalating, has forced an estimated 500,000 people to flee their homes. Mostly women and children, they are in need of food and non-food assistance. UWT, traditionally active in these areas through its widow and orphan-support programmes, is preparing food packages and blankets for displaced families. The Muslims of Iraq need our help.
