Un-needed SWAT teams have overpopulated America with zero civilian oversight. Public PDs have the ppl and gear to rotate Officers in & out of SWAT roles, at less cost, and better trained to not abuse civilians or their Rights. Lack of civilian oversight and zero accountability has lead SWATs to an us vs them mentality that has lead to innumerable abuses, deaths, murders, and suffering. No city with less than 200,000 ppl needs a swat team at all! No new SWAT teams should be allowed to form until civilian oversight exists, and each team should have its own board of civilian over-seers. We need to re-evaluate the use of swat nationally, before we go any further towards Germany 1930s.
