Unani doctor suffers burns in acid attack. CHENNAI: A unani practitioner suffered burn injuries when two men threw acid on him while he was returning home near Vepery on Wednesday night. The unani practitioner, Altaf Hussain, 27, a resident of Rangadas Colony near Villivakkam, had been running a clinic in Pudupet for a couple of years. Police said he was attacked on Alagappa Salai in Purasawalkam at 10pm. According to witnesses, police said, two middle-aged men on a motorbike stopped Hussain and entered into an altercation with him. The pillion rider suddenly threw acid on Hussain. He ducked but suffered burn injuries on his hand. The two men sped away. Residents informed police and took Hussain to Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital for treatment. He was later moved to a corporate hospital on Greames Road. The Vepery police have registered a case and are looking for the men. "Hussain is in the intensive care unit in the hospital. We are waiting for him to be shifted to a room to question him," a police officer said.TOI
