Unbelievable. Malama sells paddles to customers in the mainland - TopicsExpress

Unbelievable. Malama sells paddles to customers in the mainland who are usually some of our favorite people. They come out paddling with us when theyre on Maui and they are respectful of Malama and treasure his paddles since each one is hand-made by him and he only makes a few each week. So - and heres my big mistake - I texted a new customer that his paddle was ready and go ahead and send his check. The guy had spoken to Malama before so he knew this wasnt Malamas phone number. (Malama doesnt text. Hes not into computers AT ALL) I explained I was sending the text because Malama doesnt have texting. So the guy starts bugging me to send him a photo and sending me all these texts. Every time I get a text I think it is news about my granddaughter. And I hear all these texts going off while Im driving today and Im like freaking out that my granddaughter has taken a turn for the worse (she hasnt shes doing great). So I park and look at my phone and it is this guy bugging me AGAIN. So I say You are not talking to Malama. I only sent the text because he doesnt have texting on his phone. (AGAIN) You are texting the wrong person But the guy ignores me and keeps texting me. So I tell him why this is bothering me and how worried I get every time I get a text. And he GOES OFF ON ME! Completely ignores the part about my granddaughter being ill. So by this time I realize Im dealing with one of these really self-centered people. Ive told him 3 times he has the wrong person and to stop texting me. Then I tell him stop contacting me again. And he says hes cancelling the check. Which is good because when I told Malama about this he said we dont need customers like this and he was going to send his check back. Why would someone buy a Malama paddle and then disrespect his family? Its not like Malama Custom Paddles are plentiful. And if all they want is a factory produced paddle chop chop there are plenty of those around and its much quicker to buy them instead. If you care about the craftsmanship, usually people care about the artist. [shakes head] In all the decades Ive been with Malama this has never happened before. Its kinda bumming me out that someone could be like this. Learned my lesson. Ill make Malama call his customer next time instead of texting. So if anyone wants an extra special beautiful paddle (it has more koa etc in it than the standard paddle) message me.
