Unbelievable deep and stirring weather between the Hex River - TopicsExpress

Unbelievable deep and stirring weather between the Hex River Valley and R46 to Karoopoort on our trip to locate Namaqua Warbler. Snow, sleet, sun, wind and rolling vistas of moving rain-fronts which made for highly pressured birding. A big thank you to Trevor Hardaker for advice on tracking it down in the challenge area, after several attempts. White-throated Canaries were almost irruptive in nature, lots of pairs foraging all around on flowering shrubs towards Eierskop. We located Black Harrier, Cinnamon-breasted Warbler, Karoo Chat, Karoo Lark, Layards Titbabbler, Yellow Canary, and a few small ground-foraging flocks of Black-headed Canary which were a nice bonus. A great day with Kim Vieira birding and enjoying the winter in the Karoo.
