Uncle Stan’s Musings: Sound Economic Policy or Political - TopicsExpress

Uncle Stan’s Musings: Sound Economic Policy or Political Correctness? It is my understanding that this weekend’s gun show, at the AT&T Expo Center, will be the last. It is also my understanding that this venue is owned by Bexar County. And it is my understanding that the reason for the cessation, of the shows, is money. Apparently, the county has asked for a fee increase that would make it uneconomical, for the show’s promoters to continue. If my aforementioned “understandings” are correct, I must ask a few questions: 1. What economic factors necessitated the fee increase? 2. What activities are standing in the wings, prepared to replace the gun show and its revenue to the country? 3. If there are no planned activities, is $0 really better than the revenues generated by the current agreement? Please understand that this cancellation not only impacts the county’s coffers, but those of the show’s vendors, concessionaires, and the off duty Bexar County Sheriffs’ Deputies, Fire Marshalls and EMT staff who staff the event. As a Bexar County resident and taxpayer, I think these questions need to be answered. I would hate to think that the county took this action, simply for the sake of appearances. premiergunshows/show-schedule/
