Under 11s Secure Good Point Both teams started the game slowly with no real chances for either team and it took 7 minutes for the Sky Blues to have their first with Lewis Francis shooting over the bar. Both defences were coming out on top and Sky Blues were limited to long range efforts. On 11 minutes Dan Higgins saw his shot go narrowly wide and Cathal Chambers hit the side netting a couple of minutes later. Sky Blues were looking the more likely to score but it was Northend who finally broke the deadlock. Northend were awarded a free kick 20 yards from goal and their centre half drove the ball into the Sky Blues net. Moments later Callum Lagan raced off his line to save and stop Northend from going 2 up. Sky Blues started to put some pressure on the Northend goal as Cathal Chambers had his shot saved, the rebound saved and Lee McMenemy then fired over the bar. Half Time: Sky Blues 0 v 1 Northend Utd The second half was a copy of the first with the defences forcing both teams to long range efforts. Sky Blues man-of-the-match Daniel Barefoot had shots in the 29th, 37th and 39th minutes all sail over the bar and Michael McKays header on 38 minutes from a Sky Blues corner also narrowly went over the bar. Sky Blues finally got the equalizer they deserved on 44 minutes. Some quick passing from Chambers and Higgins set Michael McKay through to slip the ball past the Northend keeper. Sky Blues finished the half the stronger and on 47 minutes Matthew Walsh’s volley was fumbled by the Northend keeper giving Sky Blues a corner. This led to a run of 3 consecutive corners for the Blues but they couldnt get that winning goal.
