Under 12s Liffey Celtic 5-1 Newbridge Town The lads dominated this game from start to finish and deserved their win. Even though NTFC went ahead against the run of play, Liffey came back fighting and within minutes Brendan Booth proved too tricky with the ball as a newbridge defender had to bring him down in the box for a peno which 10 year old Sam Rooney tucked away brilliantly. Liffey came out in the 2nd half piling on the pressure with Dylan Bell controlling the game in midfield like a young, less ginger Paul Scholes and that pressure paid off as a newbridge defender put the ball into his own net after a shot by Harry Oconnor. Next up was Alex Kerrigan to score as he pounced on a loose ball 20 yards out to smash the ball past a good newbridge goalie. Alex Okwutu got on the scoresheet next when he spun his defender on the right wing before looping a powerful shot/cross into the top corner leaving the goalkeeper flat footed. 9 year old Philip Dudas made his debut and bundled the ball into the goal for 5-1 after great pressure by Dylan Bell in the box. Liffey could have won by more after hitting the post and crossbar but the lads worked hard once again and got their reward. Great support from the parents on the sideline too! Lets go again next week!
