Under 15 Under 15s Battle Back For Point On Saturday 5/10/2013 Sky Blues under 15s travelled to White City Grounds in Dungannon for a league match against Lower Maze from Lisburn. Another beautiful morning for a game of football which proved to be the young blues well match challenge in the league so far. The sky blue lads seemed to lack commitment and desire to take control of the pace of the game as this was a hard fought battle all over the pitch. The young Lower maze lads had more a hunger for the ball and had several chances to pound the blues defence and goal area early on in the game, leaving young Michael McGlaughlin or new signing keeper very busy. The young blues lacked energy and were losing out on the tackles for possession of the ball and take control of the game all over the pitch, but had some chances to attach lower maze goal area, their defence were solid holding off the young blues attempts on goal. The maze lads were very quick on the counter attach spreading the ball wide then through to their attaching players and had some good opportunities on the blues goal, which lead to their first goal where their young striker was brought down in the penalty box when he receive a very well timed pass through to him and our keeper came out to challenge by diving unto the ball and the young striker fell over our keeper, the referee give them a penalty. Michael tried his best but was unable to save a well struck shot to his right towards the top corner. The young blues heads dropped and before they knew it they went 2-0 down before half time. At the start of the second half after a turning team talk to encouragement the lad to go out and play the game they enjoy, the young blues were more committed by being first to, and challenging every ball with a fresh desire which they lacked in the first half. Towards the end of the match the young blues got a goal back after a free kick which was whipped in by their Captain Liam OG McElhone leading to a goal mouth scramble putting their young keeper under pressure, the ball came off the keepers body to the awaiting Anton Tohill who put the ball into the net. This then lifted the young blues to another level with a fresh zeal to go on and finishes the match off and with a few minute to go putting great pressure on the maze team, the ball was picked up in mid field by Ciaran McKeever who played Young Stephen Greer through on the left, he then ran at the defence and whipped in a great ball into the box to several awaiting young blues hungry for the ball. There was another goal mouth scramble and Sebastian Layden with great skill assisted Anton Tohill with his second goal when he placed the ball into the net. The young blues continued to put great pressure on the young maze team who at this stage were stunned at the turn around on the game, as they thought they had the game sown up. Pushing forward for the third goal In the last few seconds of the game the young blues were awarded a corner whipped in by young Tohill, the young blues were hoping to get a third goal but the ball was knocked about a bit, then cleared by the defence. The young blues couldn`t put the well-deserved finishing touch they desired at the final whistle which ended the match. Well done lads on coming back into the game to get your well-deserved 2-2 draw. The men of the match goes to Martin McGlaughlin who played a solid role in left off defence and put in some fantastic individual runs up the left side and Anton Tohill who played a centre mid role pushing forward and was awarded with two well-deserved goals. Well done lads
