Under our new covenant through Christ, He has given us authority - TopicsExpress

Under our new covenant through Christ, He has given us authority as heirs with Him to act and speak things into being that wouldn’t otherwise occur (see Matthew 18: 18). We can take authority over circumstances, breakthroughs, healing and even the weather. This stands in shocking contrast to the lies of Satan, the Accuser who seeks to belittle and disqualify us in every way. The ministry of Jesus is fully transferable to us, a principle that is firmly and consistently supported throughout all of Christ’s teachings and His disciples’ letters to the Church (see Luke 6: 40; Romans 8: 29; 2 Corinthians 3: 18; Galatians 2: 20; Colossians 3: 9– 10). As we walk in His footsteps, we’re commissioned to extend the Kingdom of God. We see the demonstrable reality of the Kingdom break through as we walk in our God-given authority. It’s not magic. It’s part of our inheritance, although our ability to walk in it is still imperfect. As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 13: 12, now we see only see in part, we prophesy only in part. Not everything happens just the way we want it to, because the Kingdom of God is here, but still coming. Jesus submitted Himself to suffering in this world. He faced horrible persecution, He was unfairly tried for crimes He didn’t commit and He even died on a cross. Yet wherever He went, He brought the breaking in of the Kingdom of God. In the tension and suffering and day-to-day life of paying taxes, being hungry and trudging through long, hot stretches of desert, He faithfully proclaimed the Kingdom. Being a Kingdom people means that like Him, we live our lives in agreement with heaven, speaking and acting to accomplish what God wants to do here on earth (see Colossians 3: 1– 2). This life of ministry powerfully affirms our true identity in Christ, and it’s extremely offensive to the “religious” and to the kingdom of darkness. Dawkins, Robby (2013-06-15).
