Understanding racism is hard, but a fear of talking about it is - TopicsExpress

Understanding racism is hard, but a fear of talking about it is worse. If you have questions about race - ask. I wont be offended. Ive literally heard it all. So many people dont understand that their subtle bias contribute to racism, even bias they didnt know they had. Thats just as an important issue as those who burn crosses on lawns. Being racial bias is still being racist, and asking yourself why do I experience racial bias, is the only way to fix that problem. It is not an issue of white guilt or any of that bullshit, its an issue that is a social problem across all cultures because traditionally, no culture likes dark skinned people. Back in the day, if you were dark skinned or tan it meant you were poor - you worked in the fields, you did manual labor. If you were wealthy, you were pale because it meant you had servants. This exists in European, Middle Eastern, Asian and Indian culture. And it is the single most important concept to understand the racial bias in all of us. We all have it. We all have to understand it together.
