Understanding that hindsight is 20/20, I am watching a complete replay of September 11, 2001 coverage on MSNBC. The rhetoric being thrown around about terrorists and where they may be hiding, understanding how media effectively portrays the black male as the urban terrorist. At 10:50 am Tom Brokaw says, ....this is going to change this country profoundly. Yes, on the heels of that event, we had the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan with the incredible loss of life of innocent men, women, and child civilians, as well as fighters from all countries on all sides of the geopolitical poker table. But the connection that should ALSO be made on this day is to the events in Ferguson, Missouri. What does it say, if in response to the attacks of September 11, 2001 the weaponry meant to defend American citizens, supposedly, are instead and very intently being used AGAINST these same citizens here today, in Ferguson, Missouri and in cities and streets across America? Some positions are that there are geopolitical back stories that the majority of us dont know or understand, that there are relationships that we are not aware of, that this shit is CHESS NOT CHECKERS. Whether the government DOD program 1033 turns out to have been an incredibly slippery slope, or a very intentional ramp, America is going to HAVE to deal with race, economics and human equality. What has it looked like, what does it look like, and what will it look like in the future.
