Understanding the Holy Spirit and His works #137 Dear Friends. 46 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. 47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. 48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? 49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold, my mother and my brethren! 50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother (Mathew 12:46-50). We can begin to see that the Lord Jesus`s remark to His family members wasn`t in the negative because He was doing His Father`s business and had already in the previous chapter taught that He who loves father and mother more than Him is not worthy of His Disciple or the Kingdom. And from here we can notice that His family members have come to challenge Him because He was too generous with the people by healing them of every kind of sickness without any charge. And to the members of His family this was offensive, and outrageous: and this had motivated them to classify Him as a Lunatic, and a disgrace to His family. And to stop Him from preaching the Gospel was their next move. And with every aspect of their reasoning, there is nothing that has so far convinced them that the Lord Jesus is the Messiah not until after His death and resurrection. We must also have to accept this confrontation before His death as a fact: 1 And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him. 2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? 3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. 4 But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. 5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. 6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching (Mark 6:1-6). Upon all these things, here is the good news, Christ Jesus was born poor, and He did everything He had done not for the material purpose. And, thereafter, He lived and died in poverty, but there are something so amazing that He had wanted us to learn or capture from the way that He had lived and spent His life. He had lived and spent His entire life helping and serving the people of all classes, and mostly the poor so that He was unable to build a house of His own or buy a car. But we have to thank God today for His goodness. How great is it to know that someone who was unable to build or buy His own house. That today people everywhere are building houses, and naming their houses after Jesus as the Master Builder. In the hospitals, doctors were calling Him the Greatest Physician, and the learned and religious leaders were calling Him the Greatest Teacher that had ever lived even when He had never applied for a job. We can see drivers turning to Him to drive their cars; the ship owners calling Him the Captain of their ships. You just name it. And as one goes to the burial grounds the memory of Him is everywhere to be seen, and even in every transaction done under the sun. Everyone is acknowledging Him by saying, this and so person had lived from this date and died on this date “After the Death of Christ Jesus.” Or that I bought this and entered into this agreement with you this day “After the Death of Christ Jesus.” And every of these things were in harmony with the Word of God which had said: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father(Philippians 2:10-11). What a better way to live a life, and how nice to take God`s business at heart. And those who call God`s business their business will be glorified even when they were sowing in tears. 5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. 6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him (Psalm 126:5-6).
