Undrafted rookie free-agent guard Ian Clark may have played - TopicsExpress

Undrafted rookie free-agent guard Ian Clark may have played himself into an NBA contract after his performance in the NBA’s Summer League in Orlando and Las Vegas. Playing for the Miami Heat in Orlando and Golden State Warriors in Las Vegas, Clark demonstrated his ability to score and defend and has turned into one of the Summer League’s attractive free agents. The Warriors, Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz have expressed interest in the combo guard, and after scoring 33 points in Golden State’s 91-77 victory over the Phoenix Suns in the championship game of the Vegas Summer League tournament, he said he will talk with his agent, Bill Duffy, and discuss his options. Clark, a combo guard at 6-3, is also generating interest from European teams, who may be able to provide him with more guaranteed money than NBA teams. Clark had a strong four-year career at Belmont, helping the Bruins to three NCAA tournament appearances. He averaged 18.4 points and shot 40.5% on three-pointers during his season and shared Ohio Valley Conference player of the year honors with Murray State’s Isaiah Canaan. Clark played in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in April and worked out for several teams, including the Warriors, Blazers, Houston Rockets, and Chicago Bulls before the draft. But the night of the draft he didn’t hear his name called. Clark is a shooter and scorer. In the Vegas finale, he made 7-for-10 three-pointers and reached double figures in nine of 12 Summer League games. He also shot 45.9% on threes (28-for-61).
