Unfettered free enterprise is one of the reasons America rose so - TopicsExpress

Unfettered free enterprise is one of the reasons America rose so rapidly in the world, however the price was massive pollution and great social cost. So unions rose to protect the workers, and government regulations arose to rein in profiteering that did more overall harm than good. Many people think that big government is bad, government interference in free enterprise is bad, and regulations are bad. I think that kind of philosophy is outdated. If you trust the rich and the corporations to do what is best for the greater good, I believe your trust is misplaced; better for people to force their government to do its job than to flush government down the toilet and replace it with rule by the rich. Government is (theoretically at least) the voice and the arm of the people, and heres once case in which I wish they had acted to prevent the dollars and feathers from being handed over to China so that a few big stockholders could profit.
