Unfortunately, I discovered yesterday that the offices of The Kofi Annan Foundation in Switzerland are closed until August 5th. I will phone again on that date. From now until then, we can begin to think of how we can contribute to the following effort as individuals. How can we become advocates for immediately necessary change? As I worked, I discovered that this concept could be applied to more than just the environment. Please consider the following proposal in this rough draft form: Defining the Era of Resolution: A Worldwide Movement to Determine the Course of Our Future Actions 1. Stand up or identify an entity in which worldwide advocates for change can trust. 2. Develop a website via which we, the users, may gain access at our local libraries. We will have the ability to log into the site with anonymity. Users will be able to navigate to various topics of interest. Examples: Environment, Commerce, Education, Sports, Entertainment, Government, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Food, Medical, Justice, Military, Finance, etc. Note: There is to be no topic for religious/spiritual matters in this effort. It divides us too much. It will only hinder progress. Phase One We will first work to identify the problems to be most immediately addressed. This is not to be a repository for grievance. Complaints will not be welcomed. We are to identify and post problems only. A method will be found to avoid duplication of similar posts. Something like an "agree" button will enable us to gauge how many share the same concerns. Phase Two Via the same method, we will open the website to capture your suggestions for solutions. Phase Three We will begin to identify ways to implement solutions where possible. Tangibles Downloadable reports on the various phases, and perhaps a final report generated on the effectiveness of our solutions will be available. Suggestion: During any phase, we should consider continuing to approach someone whom we may have previously viewed as different from ourselves for the purpose of bridge building. We would simply begin with a discussion of the matters the world "agrees" upon. Decision: How will we fund this effort? Donations would require personal information.
