Unfortunately Mom will not be writing a blog post for tomorrow. She is quite exhausted after starting the IV chemo on Friday, and so its easier for me to give a collective update here for those of you whove been wondering and asking. As you might know, the cancer has spread to her liver which has prompted a change of course in treatment. She will be undergoing IV chemo every friday, until her body cannot handle the impact of it. After consulting with more than one oncologist, the prognosis is this: There is a 40% chance that this last attempt at treatment will help. If it helps, the doctors give her a year. If she is part of the 60% where it doesnt help, or her body cannot handle the effects of the chemo and she has to stop, then they estimated she has 5-6 months. None of us really know what to say, so I cant expect anyone else to either. What mom really wants is for us to face the reality and not place what may be impossible expectations for a better outcome. Im not one to ask for prayers and such, but I want more than anything for her quality of life to be good for the time that she does have. So whether you pray, or prefer to send good vibes and thoughts her way, anything is so incredibly appreciated. Thank you so much to everyone who has done anything thus far, it means the world - even if its just a simple smile.
