Unfortunately, all too often in rescue, there are stories of neglect and abandonment that make you physically ill and then mad as hell and you pray for a miracle. This is one of those stories. Enter Lucas. A 6 month old beautiful pit puppy who only weighed a shocking 17lbs when he was brought into the vet for having seizures. You see, those seizures that got the “owners” to finally bring little Lucas in for the desperate life-saving help he needed, were caused from their neglect. Lucas was extremely malnourished, soaked in his own urine and feces, couldnt stand or lift his head and was so thin you could see every bone in his body, including his eyebrow structure protruding like a large bump. BUT this is where the story takes a magnificent turn, and restores hope and promise in a sometimes unimaginable awful world. Thanks to the quick acting and care of the doctors and staff at Whitney Veterinary Hospital and Cat Care Clinic, Lucas got the help and care he needed to LIVE! Lucas was relinquished to the vet who then immediately called Dont Bully My Breed, Inc to ask, if they were able to nurse him back to health, could we help find him a deserving forever home. Well after numerous tests all coming back normal, Lucas gaining some weight, and getting an otherwise clean bill of health, we are so thrilled to announce that as of yesterday, Lucas LEFT the hospital and went into an awesome foster home who is continuing to make sure he gets the proper care, nutrition, and love he has been sorely lacking until now!
