Unfortunately, black men in the US die everyday from being shot and killed but its not as news worthy when its another black person doing the shooting. No protests come about, no store looting, no cries for justice and the leaders of the free world stand back in silence. Then the media spins out a story that its sure will cause mayhem, the newspapers twist words and the story is repeated over and over again. The plight of black men is belted from the roof tops, people cry, and become enraged. The peace that once lulled the people evaporates and they get smacked with reality that then turns into a half truth. A black man was shot and killed by a white cop but had he been shot by another black man we wouldnt even know his name. The other half of the truth is less palatable, however, because we cant seem to admit that he put himself in harms way. That his actions put him in a position that could potential bring harm to his being. One cant help but think that if that kind of passion existed for the everyday crimes, how things might change...
