Unfortunately, it seems that the AAHA has been able to take - TopicsExpress

Unfortunately, it seems that the AAHA has been able to take control of owner’s decision of their own pet’s health choices! Effective November 1, all AAHA-accredited veterinary practices will require patients to be anesthetized and intubated for dental procedures, including cleanings. According to the AAHA, the 2013 AAHA Dental Care Guidelines for Dogs and Cats is what prompted the mandate. Therefore, we will no longer be able to provide this service to our clients. This is upsetting to us and to our clients! I will continue to perform gentle dental on my own pets but I will no longer be able to give you this service. I want to thank all my clients for trusting me with taking care of their pet’s dental care. If you need me to refer you to a vet please contact me. What can you do to help keep your pet’s teeth and gums healthy? Feed a species (non-HPP) raw meat diet and supplement this diet with raw bones, turkey necks, and chicken necks. Make sure the necks are organic! Most pets that are fed a raw meat diet do not need to have their teeth cleaned. However, if you are like me…just brush your pet’s teeth with a finger brush (I use a microfiber finger brush). Find the most natural toothpaste and add vitamin C to it. Gently massage the teeth and gums. Make sure to do this at night after the last feeding or just before you go to bed. There are a few homeopathic remedies that can help with different teeth and gums issues. Consult your holistic vet for details about these remedies. Our favorite – Fragaria – helps soften tartar. Calc Fluor & Hepar Sulph – for dental abscess Merc Sol – for ulceration and soreness/gingivitis Silica – for snorting and roaring noised due to chronic inflammation of the soft palate with glandular enlargement Carbo Veg, Merc Sol, Hepar Sul, Aconite, Pyrogen & Belladonna – for gum inflammation/gingivitis/bad breath (Halitotis) & gumboil (gingival abscess) Best Regards, Fabienne Lawrence (Owner) holisticpetscenter/
