Unfortunately our WV governor is in the pockets of the oil , & gas - TopicsExpress

Unfortunately our WV governor is in the pockets of the oil , & gas lobby too. I am active in the WV mountain party. It is the WV iteration of the Green Party. Because of our low percent of the polls, previously we hardly ever get invited or allowed to participate in debates. Its a vicious cycle. No exposure, few votes, few votes, no exposure. Bob Henry Baber, a good friend of mine, (and Rich woods former mayor) accomplished an unbelievable civil disobedience feat by crashing a debate and getting to speak! during his last of numerous bids for Govenor. He received an unprecedented five percent of the vote. We try as hard as we can to get the vote out, to raise awareness, to get exposure, but its very difficult competing with the deep pockets of the oil & gas lobby and the entrenched coal lobby. The fear-mongers get people to believe that they wont survive w/o their coal jobs, except perhaps in this boomtown mentality the new, shiny Fracking jobs. We are fortunate that we had a recent water incident. It is still fresh in peoples angry minds that the water was poison (in this land of beautiful springs and rivers) for WEEKS. Some folks are still understandably scared to drink the water. The reason that we are fortunate is that this is an excellent time to resonate with peoples recently enhanced environmental awareness, since they can easily assess how it can affect them. They can see coals mountaintop removal methods, (which employ far less folks and are a primary reason for the cut in coal jobs) vast butchered tree-cut mountains, a huge water contamination that threatened hundreds of thousands, and are hearing more and more as communities stand up and say No! To F....ing! Did I get any of my facts wrong BobH B?
