Unfortunately the Super20 team suffered their second successive - TopicsExpress

Unfortunately the Super20 team suffered their second successive loss of the season today, however once again the team fought well. After winning the toss and choosing to bat on what looked like a belter of a batting track we were left reeling at 2 for 24 in the 4th over. After consolidating the innings Manish finally departed for a hard fought 17 after putting on a 54 run partnership with the skipper. The skipper fell 3 overs short of carrying his bat trying to push the team cause, eventually getting caught for 65. Bowser and Andre then unleashed for the last three overs taking 27 runs off the last three overs on what was a very difficult track to score on. Sunny and S Clay (who has packed on a few pounds since retiring from the game) bowled very tidily in the first 8 overs of the bowling innings both bowling out with figures of 1/21 and 2/14 respectively. unfortunately the wheels fell off in the innings after this, and one hack on the other team finished with 71 not out (after being dropped on not many). He took to the remaining bowlers and saw the opposition home with 2 overs to spare. Our bowling was good, ground fielding was excellent, but catching let us down with a few chances grassed in the innings. A big thanks to Geeza, Slider and Clubby for playing today after a few players pulled out with late notice, it was much appreciated as playing with 8 guys in a T20 is not an attractive prospect. Player Points: 3 - E. Godford (65 off 47 balls, 1 catch) 2 - S. Clay (2/14 off 4) 1 - K. Trayhurn (1/9 off 2) 1 - A. Locardi (10 off 6 balls, 1 catch, setting the standard for ground fielding) The next game is this Sunday at Bowman Park against Barmi Swamis at 9:30am. Please advise the skipper your availability if you are keen to play. Ralphy
