Unfortunately, this will be the last week for Maria (Coach G) at the box because she has accepted a position at another school near Evansville. Im happy for her because I know she will be closer to her family and in a situation where she really feels she can make an impact with students, but personally and professionally Im saddened. We are not only losing a valued member of our PE department, but we are losing a teacher that truly cares about her students. I will miss her as a good friend that always knew when to drop me an encouraging note at just the right time. Her toughness was on display once again at the competition this past weekend. Both Maria and Betsy ended up with torn up hands after the pull-ups in the 2nd workout. Maria didnt think she would be able to grip the bar to do clean and jerks for the last WOD. I told her not to worry about it - just do the first part and forget the clean and jerks. Whatever - she taped up her hands and knocked out 9 reps. I hope everyone gets a chance to see her this week and wish her well in new situation.
