Unfortunately we see a lot of wildlife that has been hit by cars. Many of them are injured beyond saving. This is George who is a large male koala. He had very serious injuries to his face, in particular one eye was ruptured due to the impact of the car. Today he had surgery to remove the eye and will be in our care for another week to ensure everything goes well after surgery. Koalas do very well in the wild with one eye so we are keeping our fingers crossed he makes a full recovery. The photos show the eye before surgery, during his surgery preparation and after surgery. The fur grows back and from a distance no one will even know he is missing an eye!
