Uniform Civil Code B*******ts & BJPs Double Speaking tongue ================================================= I have been vocal about this issue for a long time. In a country with varied culture, religion & customs, although rationally it sounds good to have a common civil code, practically it is not possible. The advocates of the UCC are squarely aiming at the rights of Muslims for their polygyny stature. It is certainly a hotly contested area where I have already given ample examples of special treatments for Hindus & alike (this incl. Sikhs, Jains etc) which are denied for these other religions. As a policy, RBI will not allow Shariah Law based Islamic Finance Models for Financial services because of this same reason. I have already nailed the anomalies in the Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) Act. Have discussed briefy about the Gujarat Freedom of Religion Act and wrote in detail about the ghettoisation in Gujarat.
