Union Customs Code has been adopted – the Official Journal of the European Union posted today, October 10, the Regulation no 952/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down the Union Customs Code (UCC). The main changes relates to the empowerments of the Commission to adopt delegated acts. This means that the Commission will have the obligation to prepare Regulations and implementing acts for each chapter of the UCC starting with October 30. Also, the customs authorities may impose charges or recover costs where specific services are rendered (i.e. attendance by customs staff outside official office hours or at premises other than customs premises; analyses or expert reports on goods and postal fees for the return of goods to an applicant; etc.) – entering into force on October 30 as well. The remaining articles shall apply starting with June 1, 2016. Our Customs & Global Trade team will keep you updated with reference to this subject.
