Unitary Authority for Northland: It appears that the 3 Northland district councils and NRC are genuinely interested in working more closely together, and putting the we back in community. This offers hope that we could swing the status quo or the enhanced status quo as viable options. Contact your local Far North councillor / community board member and ask them to support rescinding the 2012 Far North Council resolution supporting 2 Unitary Authorities, and replace it with a resolution supporting the enhanced status quo (essentially more power to community boards and better cooperation among Northland councils). It also seems that Far North council is going back to a more extensive committee structure, to ensure more coordination and more engagement with communities.
