United Nation Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Resolutions adopted by the General Assembly 61/295 United Nations Declarations on the Rights of Indigenous People Annex United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples The General Assembly: Affirming : That the indigenous peoples are equal to all the other peoples, while recognizing the right of all people different , to consider themselves different and to be respected as such. Concerned: That indigenous peoples have suffered from historic injustice as result of inter alia, their colonization, and disopessession of their lands, territories ,resources , thus preventing them rom exercising ,in particular , their right to devolpment in accordance with their own needs and interests. ARTICLE 2: Indigenous people and individual are free and equal to all other peoples and individual and have right to be free from any kind of discrimination, in exercising of their rights, in particular that based on their indigenous origin or identity. ARTICLE 6: EVERY Indigenous individual has the right to a nationality. ARTICLE 8: 2.(a) Any action which as aim or effect of dispossessing them of their lands , territories or resources. ARTICLE 9: Indigenous Peoples and individual have the right to belong to an indigenous community or nation in accordance with traditions and customs of the community or nation concerned, No discrimination of any kind may arise from the exercise of such a right. ARTICLE 25: INDIGENOUS PEOPLE have right to maintain and strengthen their distinctive spiritual relationship with tradition owned , or otherwise occupied and used lands, territories, waters , and coastal seas and other resources and to uphold their responsibilities to the future generation in this regard. ARTICLE 33: 1. INDIGENOUS PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT TO DETERMINE THEIR OWN IDENTITY OR MEMBERSHIP IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEIR CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS. THIS DOES NOT IMPAIR THE RIGHT OF INDIGENOUS INDIVIDUALS TO OBTAIN CITIZENSHIP OF THE STATES IN WHICH THEY LIVE. 2. INDIGENOUS PEOPLE HAVE TO DETERMINE THE STRUCTURES AND TO SELECT THE MEMBERSHIP OF THEIR INSTITUTIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEIR OWN PROCEDURES . ARTICLE 35: INDIGENOUS PEOPLES HAVE THE RIGHT TO DETERMINE THE REPONSIBLITIES OF INDIVIDUALS TO THEIR COMMUNITES.. IN ARTICLE 33...1. OWN IDENTITY OR MEMBERSHIP IN ACCORDANCE OF THEIR CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS’’’’’’’................... TO SAY THE TRIBAL USES THEIR FAMILY AND POWER TO VOTE IS POWER WHAT ARE THE EQUAL RIGHT OF OTHERS,??
