United Retirement Center, Inc., has been an expanding, ever-reaching mainstay in the Brookings Community since 1956. The transformation of United Living Community, Inc., to a nationally recognized intergenerational long-term-care support and services campus has been an intriguing challenge. The challenge of Alleviating Loneliness in a Vibrant Environment has been a successful journey. After 18 years under the governance of a dedicated Board of Directors, the forward thinking, dedicated staff, and the unfailing support of the Brookings Community, I need a fresh challenge. The future of United Living Community promises more advancement and innovation. I have worked vigorously to build a solid foundation for the future alongside a group of people that I shall always be proud to call my peers and crusaders. Together, we transformed caring for and caring about the young and the young-at-heart. And yes, this group of people has changed the focus from dying in a nursing home, to living in a nursing home, to being ALIVE. I shall never regret the past 28 years of being an administrator for the elders in the state of South Dakota. I am offering my resignation effective February 5, 2015. United Living Community is set for a new person in the leadership position with the vision and the passion to exceed the core values and goals that have been the driving force behind the success of United Living Community.
