United States Of Niger Delta OVERVIEW: The Niger Delta region has for long suffered marginalisation and victimisation. In time past several struggles have emerged, all aimed at giving the Niger Delta people a voice but to no avail. Sincerely and Sympathetically,Nigeria is ironically dwelling on the glory of the Niger Delta people, the regions that feeds the Nation and yet wallow in abject poverty and squalor,a region that has been betrayed and robbed of our God-given natural resources by the evil monster called Nigeria,What an unholy marriage! A Nation found on the pocket-principles and theories of the Northerners and other beneficial tribes that have turned Nigeria to their personal empire with no significant accrual to the Niger Delta region as benefit. A Nation where only the rich can ride on eagle wings, while the poor pay even to watch them ride. The more Nigeria exist, the more Niger Delta suffers,Lets take our place. FORMATION AND GOVERNANCE The United States of Niger Delta shall serve as an historical republic to ceremoniously mark the age long struggle of the Niger Delta People. Basically, for self determination, resource control and true federalism which our Mother country Nigeria has been unable to give to us. The United States of Niger Delta shall exist to serve our people,so the age long efforts of our heroes past shall never be in vain. The formation and harmonisation shall be limited to Bayelsa,Rivers,Delta,Akwa-Ibom,Edo,Cross Rivers and the Arogbos of Ondo state, which shall serve as founding Independent states of the United States of Niger Delta. The Capital of our proposed country shall be located in three different locations/regions. Port Harcourt shall be the Executive capital,Uyo shall be the Legislative capital and the historical Benin-City shall serve as our judicial capital. The capital territories shall be moved to other states after a time range of fifteen years for the purpose of developmental pursuit. We exist as a people,in the spirit of self determination and liberation haven been marginalised for all these years. POLITICS: All citizens as prescribed by the law shall have the right to franchise;to vote and by voted for. Our principles of democracy as a Nation shall be built and transparency and accountability with zero tolerance for desperacy which has brought Nigeria to a failed state today. Our political system shall for ever be democratic,we shall move across the era of mere semantics and ensure our laws are enforceable and guided by sanction with absolute respect for the rule of law, which shall serve as the foundation of our justice system. The fiasco of blood politics and Do or Die perceptions shall be intercepted by our new generation politics. An era of absolute stewardship and not capital flight. Together we shall take politics beyond Abraham Lincolns accord with additional values Government by the people, for the people, from the people,of the people, under the people and with the people ECONOMY The United States of Niger Delta if actualized shall grow to be the Biggest economy in Africa, for Nigeria is dwelling on the glory of Niger Delta. We account for over 90% of the Nigerian economy which crowns Nigeria as the biggest economy in Africa. Our Oil and gas industry shall be well governed and overseen. All states shall operate independently on their own while tasks are paid to the federal government. The protection of our Environment shall be our greatest agenda, our environment shall be scientifically protected through the new measures of controlling gas flaring and other oil exploration activities thereby avoiding 90% of the uncertainties and demerits of oil drills. To visualise this,we most earnestly adhere to world class standards and theories of best practices with no compromise. REFERENDUM AND DISINTEGRATION The process of disintegration shall not be pursued by violence,by so doing,Referendum and constructive advocacy shall always be the our weapon, for fighting with the pen is mightier than the sword. The struggle will be at its apex, for it will never be easy actualizing this vision but it is a must because freedom is the only remedy to this unholy marriage since Nigeria is unable to grant our just prayers. What we need as a people is beyond the Presidential stool. What we need as a nation is beyond Amnesty, for amnesty has been defined in Niger Delta as the process of bribing us with what the Federal government has robbed us of. ORGANIZATIONS AND CRUSADERS The struggle shall be hinged on prominent pressure groups and ethnic rights groups as follows. 1. Ijaw National Congress(INC) 2. Ijaw Youths Council(IYC) 3.
