Unity and the Mind of Christ How can we have unity in the church? We can have unity if we have one mind, the mind of Christ. 1Corinthians 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. Hebrews 8:10-11 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: and they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. 1Peter 3:8-9 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous [humble]: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing [insults] for railing [insults]: but contrariwise blessing [instead, pay them back with a blessing]; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing [God will bless you for it]. With the mind of Christ, the body can receive direction without divisions. 1Corinthians 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment [view, opinion]. Colossians 3:12-15 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. When the body of Christ is unified with one mind, the mind of Christ, we can stand against the attacks of the devil. Philippians 1:27-28 Only let your conversation [conduct] be as it becometh [worthy of] the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast [together] in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; [with one mind fighting together for the faith, which is the gospel]. And in nothing terrified by your adversaries [and not in any way terrified by your enemies]: which is to them an evident token of perdition [which is a sign to them that they are going to be destroyed], but to you of salvation [but that you are going to be saved], and that of God [and that by God]. 1Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith [the true faith], lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Ephesians 6:10-13 ¶Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles [schemes] of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. What is the mind of Christ? Philippians 2:5-8 ¶Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Humble, a servant to his brethren, sacrificial, giving his life for the brethren. The Almighty God did this for his people because he loved them so much, a God of love and compassion, loving even all the world, sinners and righteous alike, for all have sinned. 1Peter 4:1-2 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. With the mind of Christ, we can be a godly member of his body and walk in unity. As one in Christ, we can stand against the devil, fighting the good fight of the faith, reaching the world in unity with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
