Universal Praise So ends the second section of the book of Psalms - TopicsExpress

Universal Praise So ends the second section of the book of Psalms (chs. 42–72). The entire earth blessing God forever! Unending universal praise is proper for the One who alone does wondrous things! This psalm describes an ideal kingly rule which, to some degree, characterized Solomon’s reign in its early years. The description of the king’s rule by the psalmist is a description of God’s rule, “who only does wondrous things.” The God of Israel alone is the God who judges righteously, bringing peace to His people and justice to the poor. He alone delivers the needy when they cry and redeems them from oppression. Indeed, all “shall be blessed in Him; all nations shall call Him blessed” (Ps. 72:17). Such a benevolent reign is most fully reflected in God’s Son, the Messiah of David’s line. He alone fully carries out the will of God. And all who come under His righteous rule begin to enjoy the blessings of God’s kingdom. With the psalmist, we cry out “let the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen and amen.” - Jack Hayford
