Unlike man Jesus has already been crowned. Jesus suffered while here in the world; He was made a little lower then the angels; it was not until after His death He was crowned with glory ( see Hebrews 2:9 ). He was tempted in all points like we are, yet he did not sin. He suffered; and He endured ( see Hebrews 4: 15 ). Paul was not crowned here either. For I reckon that the suffering of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us ( Romans 8: 18 ). Being full; being rich; reigned as kings ( 1 Cor 4: 8 ); these three blessings are promised in the coming Messianic Kingdom not here in a fallen world. The Corinthians pride were boasting as if they had already arrived in that kingdom and so Paul says, I would to God ye did reign, that we might reign with you. The Corinthians in Chapter 4 had stopped waiting and working out their salvation. While the Apostles were still waiting and working out their salvation. Our glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaventh the whole lump ( 1 Cor 5: 6 ). Christians have a duel assignment, Jesus said, Occupy till I come ( Luke 19: 13 ); wait and work. We must do both faithfully. Christ first coming was as Savior; but when he returns it will be as judge ( Matthew 25: 31- 46; Luke 19: 14- 27 ).
