Unnecessary possessions are unnecessary burdens This time of year is when I start looking around and taking inventory of all the excess stuff we have.....stuff that we dont use......stuff that takes up space......stuff that is a pain in the butt to move......and stuff that, frankly, we just dont need. Over the last 2 years, weve downsized from a large home and a business that I ran from an 8000 square foot warehouse. We donated tons of items, had garage sales, gave stuff away, and took several truck and trailer loads to the dump.......but somehow we continue to accumulate stuff. Actually Im convinced aliens drop crap off at our house. I guess my philosophy now is that if I havent used it in the last 6 months......or if I wont use it in the next 3 months......if its not something of extreme sentimental value, like photos or a gun or apron thats been handed down......then we need to get rid of it. This was very hard to do when we began 2 years ago......but I cannot tell you how liberating it is to get rid of things that tie ya down. Plus, the house is so much easier to keep clean when there isnt a lot of clutter. Id encourage you to try it......even if its just starting with one room. Theres nothing like lightening your load!
