Unofficially, the Russian leader announced that Russia can occupy the entire eastern block of Europe in 2 days, including the capitals of Poland, Lithuania, Romania etc. This is not a war declaration (not yet at least) but a way to put pressure on the western Europe and to make clear that, if its necessary, Russia is ready for a full scale war, if Europe will continue to economically sanction Russia for their involvement in the Ukrainian war. Also Russia will cut the air corridors for the countries that are imposing sanctions and may stop delivering gas to Western Europe in the time of the winter that is coming. One 3rd of the gas from Europe is coming from Russia and it can hardly be replaced with alternative sources. The war from Ukraine, its saw by some, as a reaction of Russia to the expansion of the western influence to the east in the last 25 years. Romania has its own gas resources and is not dependent by the Russian gas. Only 5% is coming from Russia and can be replacedfrom local sources. Is not the case for the rest of Europes countries. Romania is a member of NATO, and the politicians (considered corrupt by very many of the population) are trying to involve the country in the conflict against Russia. Dirrectly Romania is not involved and do not seem economically speaking able to involve in this war. Romania is the second poorest country of EU, but with a much more significant part of theritorry and population as the percent of EU (18 Million popullation, medium sized country). The position of the country have strategic importance, having mountains, rivers to the east (close to eastern Ukraine), and access to the black sea. In Romania, there are installed controversial systems for self defense, that Russia considers as a threat to its own security.
