Unrighteous Requirements 3 John 1:2, “Beloved, I wish above - TopicsExpress

Unrighteous Requirements 3 John 1:2, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” Helping in spreading the gospel does not include lavish living. Many believe the above scripture is a call for people to be wealthy, healthy, and spiritual. While it is true that God wants us to prosper in all areas of our life, John was talking to Gaius because he was addressing the hospitality of Gaius for opening up his home and meeting his needs while he was traveling. Since when did we turn the truth into a self-indulged message of supporting a lifestyle that is based on extravagance? Many of today’s ministers, pastors, apostles, bishops, prophets, etc., you know—servants charge the “church” for God’s word. We have lost the blessing and satisfaction of contentment. Many have extreme requirements rather than a spirit of extreme thankfulness. Because our luxuries have now become our necessities our pride and vanity has launched us into an ideology of bigger is better. A bus ticket, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and a cot in a humble home, is better than a limo, steak, and a suite at the Ritz rooted in vanity. Does the lesser mean that we are any less appreciated? I have heard and seen those who refuse to go and minister to others based on their potential to pay. Is that a sign of a person that is supposed to be sent or a mark of a person that has their eye on a preying on the church and not praying for the church? When did the church become a business or an industry? In the United States, Church is the second biggest industry next to the car industry! Looking at the church as a business transforms the church into a worldly concept that is supposed to make money or profit, removing the truth about spirituality. There are approximately 41,000 religious denominations and organizations in the world, and there is only supposed to be one truth. There are approximately 2.6 billion people calling themselves Christians, and most preaching and hearing different messages. There is over 1.9 billion people that are considered poor in the world’s eyes, but there is over 1 trillion dollars coming in across all churches in the world which is far greater that all the poor, yet we still have poor. There is enough money in Christian’s hands to wipe out poverty, and yet the majority of the money is thought to be reserved for the leadership, who are believed to be closer to God than others because they preach and teach. There is over approximately 78.5 million Bibles are distributed globally per year, but one truth and one God. How do we become so confused?
